Quest Love

It’s time to get excited! I have some awesome news to share. If you haven’t heard of Quest bars or Quest Nutrition you’ve obviously been living under a rock – so allow me to pull you into the daylight. Quest Nutrition is popular for their protein bars & if I’m being honest, I didn’t know they even existed until a friend of mine brought them into my world of snacking. Thanks, Amanda! =) Not only does Quest make amazing protein bars (I’m telling you they will change your life) but they’ve also created the greatest thing since sliced cheese – Quest Nutrition Cravings. The only current option is their Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups:

Do we really need any other option though? I’m sure they’ll come up with so much more but I’m absolutely giddy about these & I just can’t stand it! I’ve always been a sucker for anything chocolate & peanut butter. Reese’s are the first thing I reach for when I’m wanting sweets & then sadness immediately follows once I’ve eaten them all.

Once these were introduced to me I went out & bought my own stash. My friend, Kristen, is the one that I can thank for that; she also did something that day that’s just unheard of…she shared her peanut butter cups with me. I was just as shocked as you are. “You have to try these, Dani; there’s two…one for me & one for you”, she said. Obviously I’m grateful for the sharing, but deep down I was saying to myself that there was no way I would be sharing these with anyone. In case you didn’t know, Dani doesn’t share food.

After visiting Quest’s website, I came across their other snacking options - chips. On top of being a sucker for sweets, I also love Lay’s sour cream & onion potato chips. When I spotted these beauties, I just about drooled on my shirt:

Do yourself a favor & click over to Quest’s website & checkout the “Nutrition Facts” on their products, I promise that you will be pleasantly surprised. =)

So now that I’ve shared the great news aren’t you just as excited as I am?!?!

Happy snacking!

Dare to be...

During some of my free time & scrolling through Instagram, I came across this & just had to share:

"When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going

When times are tough, dare to be tougher

When love hurts you, dare to love again

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best

Dare to be the best you can

At all times, dare to be."

Crossfit Open

If you’re a fellow crossfitter, you know that the 2015 Open started last Thursday (2/26). If you don’t know what the Open is, but are curious, here’s a little info for you:

“Anyone can sign up to compete in 5 workouts over 5 weeks and post their scores online. You can either perform the workout at a participating Crossfit affiliate where you will be judged in person, or you can film your full performance and upload it to a video-sharing site, i.e. YouTube. You are free to make as many attempts at the Open workout as you please. Your only limit is time. You have 4 days (96 hours) to complete the week’s workout and submit your best score.” – Crossfit Games

The Crossfit Open is a staple in the crossfit community. For the elite athletes that you see on TV, this is the first step to their road of making the Crossfit Games. The Open is the first stop, Regionals is second & last but not least the Games.
The first Open workout for week 1 was:

15.1
9-minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible):
15 Toes-to-Bar (115# for Men/75# for Women)
10 Deadlifts (same weights)
5 Snatches (same weights)

Then directly into…

15.1a
1 rep max Clean & Jerk
*6 minute time cap

Unsure of what a “toes-to-bar” or “snatch” is? Check out the standards video [here].

As some of you have noticed, I’m not signed up for the Open this year. I will be sitting this one out due to a foot injury. I greatly appreciated all of the text messages, Facebook messages & calls that I received after several of you noticed that my name wasn’t on the Open roster. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason & this time isn’t any different. It has been hard watching my fellow teammates & box members compete, but I’m thankful that I still get to be their cheerleader & be asked to weigh in on strategy. Can’t wait to see how you all stack up – keep up the awesome work! =)

Assume the position.
